Automated Document Productions

ACT has automated the production process–using proprietary software that maintains a consistency and reliability of output not available using manual methods. The automated process is significantly less susceptible to the errors traditionally introduced by manual production, such as gaps in Bates numbers, duplicate Bates numbers, pages that are produced without Bates numbers, erroneous production of privileged documents and production of documents without proper confidentiality endorsements.

ACT’s process automatically:

  • Compares and contrasts the ACT Data Lab case document population to the review documents.
  • Tests responsive designations against non-responsive and privileged designations to determine that there are no conflicts.
  • Confirms that all documents designated confidential are supposed to be designated.
  • Tests to confirm multiple confidentiality designations.
  • Tests to confirm that there is a redaction for every document flagged for redaction.
  • Assigns a new number sequence for production and creates a cross reference to original control or Bates number.
  • Electronically stamps and endorses the production number, designation and redaction onto the production image.
  • Increases the size of white area to the right of the image to accommodate production number and designation, where necessary.
  • Provides Final Quality Control, such as inspecting the redacted images to ensure that they are permanently redacted on the final image.
