Culture

Our culture is our secret weapon. While we believe that our end-to-end discovery service offerings serve our clients well, and our unique strategies for success ensure that every project is completed successfully, it is our culture that drives it all.

We believe that we only succeed when you do.

We are owned by our executives—not investors—so we can focus on the long term. We never sacrifice your interest for our quarterly profit; instead we know that we will be rewarded with recurring clients that we’ve helped to succeed. In fact, our compensation models bear this out: our salespeople do not work on commission but all our employees are part of our profit sharing plan. They are rewarded based on team-wide success.

We believe in teamwork.

For each project, we provide an interdisciplinary team of at least four professionals (account manager, project manager, consultant and project engineer) to integrate with your legal team in order to plan, design and implement the discovery process. We call this “The Circle” and we’ve found it to be the best way to devise the best solutions, anticipate any potential problems and ensure success for all involved.

We believe in consultation.

We’ve found that a highly consultative approach and heavy project management is the best way to guarantee success. We are so zealous in this belief that we never, ever charge any client for consulting, project management or travel.

We believe in process.

ACT Litigation was founded by engineers, who have fostered a belief in quality, innovation and continuous improvement. It is always our objective to provide the highest quality work at the highest possible efficiency, and we are always willing to adjust our processes or tools to do so.

We believe in reducing all-in cost.

In most cases, 75% to 90% of the discovery-related costs are from document review. Our focus is on our client’s overall discovery costs, not on our bill. One strategy we frequently rely on is “Review Acceleration,” where we use electronic tools and other processes to minimize the amount of time—and therefore money—spent by attorneys and paralegals to review documents.

We believe in reducing cycle times and hitting deadlines.

Discovery is a time-intensive business, with sometimes draconian penalties for missing deadlines. There are also many interrelated workflows, where parties must wait on others before they can begin work. ACT’s focus on process and innovative solutions allows us to focus on minimizing each project’s cycle time to limit the possibilities of missed deadlines.

We believe in automation.

We have learned that automating processes eliminates human error and we use automation wherever possible. We will continue to develop custom software to increase our ability to limit human interaction throughout every process in order to prevent errors such as gaps in document numbering, erroneous production and improper endorsements.

We believe in providing “application expertise.”

Unlike many e-discovery companies, ACT Litigation did not reinvent itself from a reprographic company. We have always been in the “application expertise” business: applying our experience and expertise with technology to help our clients solve business problems with technology.

We believe in always providing value.

At ACT, we are always looking for ways to provide more value to our projects. The result is a group of very large, very happy clients who stick with us and insist on continuing to do business with us.

We believe in predictability.

Understanding budgetary requirements at every stage allows for better decision-making by all parties. ACT’s long history in the discovery business allows us to help our clients set budgets and forecast costs. We are also willing to provide alternative fee arrangements, such as flat, end-to-end (per gigabyte) pricing.

We believe in transparency and accountability.

Our employees understand that it is in the best interest of the client to know what’s going on at all times. We insist on good and complete communication, accurate and frequent reporting and a responsive staff. We also encourage creativity and teamwork with an open environment—our team works together in an open office, creating an easy flow of information between our team and our clients.
