ACT has provided services for a large high tech corporation for more than a decade. One of the benefits of the client “single-sourcing” through ACT is our ability to retain personnel and knowledge. ACT’s very low employee turnover, combined with our no-charge discovery archiving practices, meant that the client could count on ACT as a long-term partner.
After a couple years of relative quiet, the client was hit with a string of cases. Over the course of one year, the client litigated more than a dozen matters, many of which could be classified as “bet the company” cases. While the clear emphasis was on prevailing, costs were beginning to skyrocket.
Though each of the matters was unique, there was enough commonality with the prior and ongoing collections that the data–and potentially the review work product–could be re-used. Working with the client and outside discovery counsel, ACT devised a process of capturing and re-using several of the multi-million page data sets. We implemented this reuse system on ACT’s hosted review platform. The use of the common system across all of the cases greatly simplified the logistics of the matter and data management.
The re-use of data on ACT’s hosted platform not only saved millions of dollars, but it also freed resources at ACT and outside counsel to ensure timely completion of those document populations that had not been previously collected and reviewed.
